Brad Capps, P.E., Owner/CEO
Brad received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering with Highest Honors at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.  While he specialized in Power Systems, Management & Engineering Entrepreneurship at Georgia Tech, Brad has since worked in the electric utility industry for over 15 years and gained extensive experience in the areas of power system planning, protection, reliability & efficiency.  Brad started Cappstone Energy Group, LLC in 2006 and has served as our CEO since its founding. Brad is a Georgia native and currently lives in Covington, GA with his wife Meradith and their two children.


Edward Capps, V.P. of Engineering Services
Edward has over 40 years of experience in the electric utility industry.  He began his career as a lineman at Snapping Shoals EMC in Covington, GA.  His unparalleled work ethic was soon rewarded with a promotion to Senior Line Design Engineer.  Edward was later promoted to Director of Purchasing, receiving a National Award for Purchasing Excellence during that time.  In the year 2000, he was promoted once again to the Director of Engineering Services where he served for 14 years.  Edward joined Cappstone in 2014 as our V.P. of Engineering Services, where his knowledge of the many aspects of the industry has proven invaluable to the team.  In his free time, Edward and his wife Susan enjoy traveling and spending time with their six grandchildren.


Don Atkinson, P.E., Principal Engineer
Don received his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 2008.  He has since worked for Georgia Transmission Corporation, serving the EMCs in the state of Georgia, for nearly 10 years. Don has experience in power system planning, relay design, protection engineering & areas of compliance.  His past work ranges from developing system models for power flow analysis to developing custom protective relaying schemes for accommodating generation ties into existing distribution & transmission facilities.  He has also been involved with developing transmission-level compliance standards for Geomagnetic Disturbances.  Don joined the Cappstone team in 2017 and currently resides in Tucker, GA.


James Owens, GIS Coordinator
James is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.  With over 30 years of utility experience, he possesses an exhaustive knowledge of both AutoCAD and ESRI based mapping systems.  He is a recipient of a Special Achievement in GIS award for his GIS conversion and implementation work in the electric utility industry.  James has also worked with numerous government agencies to develop practical uses for GIS in growth studies and hurricane disaster assessments.  James joined Cappstone in 2007 and currently resides in South Carolina with his wife and two sons.
 


Jacob Moore, Supervisor of Field Services
Jacob joined Cappstone in 2015 with a strong background in public relations. Having worked in a management role for over 4 years sharpening not only his leadership skills but also his knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software, Jacob quickly moved from his initial role with Cappstone as a Field Technician to a Project Manager. His precision in all performance areas and his genuine gift for team building made him the perfect candidate for yet another promotion to his current role as Supervisor of Field Services. Jacob currently lives in Social Circle, GA with his wife Kimberly and their daughter Addison.
